Kayza's Arrival

So far the plan is that Bishop's daughter is going to sleep here tonight. We go in at 12:30am. Then Tav will stay at Bishop's tmrw and Brigette will take Shad and Kirra. Tues night Jessica is gonna stay here with them, feed them breakfast and then drop them off to my friend Brittney Wednesday morning.  I'm hoping Brett can pick up the kids from Brittney around 1pm and then get my mom from the airport.

Mom and I texting back and forth:
Me: Waiting for them to come down and get me. Contractions r like 2 min apart
Mom: Wow go Melissa perfect timing and big question have you had the shot yet?
Me: No. Still in the emergency waiting room. Kinda getting nervous. I'm giving them 1 more minute and then i'm gonna ask them to send someone NOW
Mom: Yeah I agree and tell them the situation if needed!
Me: I guess they've had quite a few go up in the last little bit so they r trying to get a room ready
Mom: Did you tell them about the strep B
Me: In the room. Haven't been checked yet to see how dilated i am. Answering questions so they can start my iv and the penicillin.

Mom: Update???

Brett: nothing going on

Mom: Did they give her the penicillin shot and check her?
Brett: Been in for about 10 min, nothing exciting yet. Hopefully when I wake up we'll have a baby...

Mom: Funny Brett!!! Sorry to keep nagging but keep us posted!!!

Me: Ahhhhhh! The penicilin in my iv BURNS!!!!!!!  I'm only half way thru the bag and this is my first dose. I don't remember this!
Penicillin thru the iv and i'm still a 3-4. Ughhhhh! Contractions have pretty much stopped again too. Guess i'm glad i'm being induced cuz she does not want to come.

They r giving me pitocin thru my iv every 15 min until contractions r 2-3min apart again. I can ask for epidural whenever. Gonna try to sleep for a bit. Love u. I'll let u know more when something happens. And u r not nagging at all! 

Mom: Well this gives You time for a little rest!
Me: Not with brett's snoring!
Mom: sending our love and prayers Lol
Me: Water just broke (4am)
Mom: And your on your way

Brett: She's getting the epidural right now. 

Mom: Good!!!!

Any baby?

Me: She checked me 30 min ago and I WAS STILL A 5!!!!!! Kayza does not want to come!

Feeling more pressure now though and she's about to check me

Mom: She is a stubborn thing!!!

Me: Hahaha! makes me nervous. but i am feeling lots more pressure now. i'm a 7. wohoo. And i have never leaked so much fluid in my life!!!! It is NEVER ENDING!!! She has changed my sheets, gown pads, pillow cases like 10x already.

And this is brett...

Mom: Why does it make you nervous you've only been in the hospital 5 hrs this is not a long time 

Out cold and snoring

Me: Everything makes me nervous till she's in my arms. :)

Mom: Yeah a typical mother!!! And brett a typical father! Well 7 is good not long now 

And you can see her heart rate etc so she is fine....but I know what you mean about tell she is in your arms why do you think I'm texting you so much

So things must be happening no text from Melissa for a few minutes

Me: U r gonna be tired tmrw
Mom: No you are!!! This is a piece of cake for me
Me: The kids r sooooo excited u r coming.
This part is when i get nervous too though cuz her heart rate slows with each contraction
Mom: I bet!!! Brings back so many memories

Me: I held a friends 2 month old baby in sacrament on sunday and t, s, and k mauled the baby!!!!! I mean MAULED!!!! It will be interesting to see them with kayza.
Mom: Hello she is being crammed out of her comfortable space
Me: I'm an 8
Mom: Yeah it will be interesting! Well time for brett to wake up. That went fast is the nurse right by you?
The joys of an epidermal I would never had been texting or anything close to it at an 8
Me: Ya.. Hasn't left for like 40 min
Mom: Well that makes me happy....not like the nurse with Kirra
Me: Hahaha! True! This one is nice, but definitely not my fave
Mom: You know you really should have waited one more week so she could be born on my bday!
Me: I'll have to tell u about the epidural. Huhhh!
Mom: Why not your fave?
Me: Hahaha! Ya right mom!!!
Mom: What's a week in the scheme of things?
Is she kind of gruff
Efficient but gruff
Me: Not really a hands on nurse. For instance, she keeps having me change positions and she never helps me, even though i can't feel anything from my bumb down.
Mom: So ask her to help you are paying her!!!
Come on now!
So is she prepping your room for the birth?
Me: Not yet... Not sure y
Mom: Well all they need is 10 minutes now adays
Me: She was just telling me that they usually don't call the dr until the patient is at a 10. She just left and will be back in 15, unless i feel a lot of pressure
Which i kinda am right now. Ha! Pressure hasn't stopped since my last contraction
Mom: Potty break how you feeling pressure wise
Well call her back then now isn't the time to be the tough person
And is brett awake? If not time for him to wake up
Me: Well, hello brett. He just woke up. I'm not in any pain at all. Just feeling like my u know what is hanging open.
Mom: Gotta love that!!! Birth is such an interesting creation isn't it
Me: Oh wait, he's back asleep. Brett and i were talking tonight how it still doesn't seem real that we r having another
Mom: Modesty just kind of flys out the window and all that matters is getting Kayza here!
Me: Amen to that!
Mom: Hello have u not looked in the mirror lately kind of hard to miss!
He was just checking to see if he was missing any action lol
Me: I feel like we've been so busy and stuff that it didn't hit home until i held the baby at church. That, oh my heavens, i'm gonna have one of these in a few days
Mom: No one is running around so back to sleep
That's true you've had a crazy summer
Me: Exactly! Woke up to say how r u? Told him i was an 8, but she left and would be back in 15 to check on me which i thought was crazy. He said well u've been going kinda slow, soooo... and then started snoring again. Ha!
Mom: Husbands gotta love them! You need to send his photo out to family though! With some kind of funny caption
Me: I am so anxious to see how much she weighs.
I seriously could fall asleep right now. As much pain and scariness this one was, it was SOOOOOOO worth it.
Mom: Pain and scariness?
Me: For real.
"Kept the lights off while Kayza made her debut so we wouldn't wake brett."
Mom: That's a good one
"The usual role of a husband....he has the fun and we do the work" (little more crass but so true)
Is the nurse back?
It's been 30 minutes
Exactly according to my clock
Me: The anesthesiologist had to repoke me like 3x and numb me 3 or 4x. He couldn't get the needle to go thru my bone cuz i was so tense and another time i got a sharp pain. I could not calm down. All the while the nurse is standing in front of me while my gown has fallen below my chest and i try twice to put it back on and am told, don't move by the anesthesiologist. I am leaking fluid so bad it is running down my legs that r hanging off the side of the bed in puddles. And brett can't be in the room the whole time. I am trying to make small talk to get myself to calm down, only to find out he works 24 hour shifts. I got the shakes real bad too. And the whole time he keeps saying, "it should be easier than this." With shad, the nurse had me drape my arms around her, talked to me, etc. She just stood there.

Mom: Well fast is not good at this point that is when rips occur!
No worries yeah sounds like she is kind if oblivious!
Wish I could slap her up the side of the head for you
Me: Nurses r changing shifts now. Yay! She went to let dr vela know.

Mom: Well that's a good thing! Hopefully this one will be better
