TinKLe, tiNkLe, SICK AGAIN, & one month

One o'clock church and this guy

just DO NOT get along!

One o'clock is nap time. Yes, I know, my sister tells me all the time how lucky I am that my 4 year old still takes a nap. He can't function without them!

Example 1:
Last Sunday, exhausted without his nap, Tav-man went to bed at 7pm. He was asleep in 5 minutes. By 8pm he was doing at lot of talking in his sleep and yelling how he needed to go potty. Brett and I both told him to just go. We heard him go into the bathroom, flip the light on, and start to go potty, but the surface the pee was hitting was not toilet water. Brett and I went running. Tavin was standing next to the tub, peeing on a towel on the floor. (At least he made the clean-up easy. HA!) We both started laughing hysterically! Tavin looked over and smiled a sleepy smile, but then he got really sad. Brett kept saying, "It's ok buddy! You're just really tired." He helped him back to bed while I did nothing but stand in the hall because I could not stop laughing!!! Brett and I seriously laughed the rest of the night. The next morning Tavin remembered NOTHING of his pee mishap.

Example 2:
Tavin has only wet the bed twice in his life and has never worn pull-ups. He is as anal as me about everything...esp. about being clean. Yesterday was another Sunday without a nap and another early bedtime. Around 4am, Tavin wandered into our room and kept saying he needed new jammies because he was so sweaty. Brett got up to help him, but immediately smelled urine. Tavin was sure he had not wet the bed and had to be convinced otherwise. After a quick bath from dad and a change of sheets by mom, Tav was back in bed.

The poor guy is so tired without a nap he can't even make it to the bathroom.

On another note, Kirra is sick again!!! She was just finally getting over a really bad cold. We are already going to the dr. tmrw for the stench and crazy amount of liquid coming out of her ear. I seriously feel like I am going to have to become a recluse! We only ventured out to the grocery store and Target all week. Where did she pick up this new virus???

Shad is one month old today. (Thanks Kelly for the text reminding me of that.)

To some I may sound like a mean mom, but I just consider myself realistic. My boys have not been the cutest babies. Kirra on the other hand was gorgeous from day one. But my boys are a little alien looking, covered in baby acne, have super crazy hair lines, and just need a couple months to grow into themselves. I only say this because I KNOW they WILL BE adOrABLe...eventually.

I had to post this last picture because it cracked me up. Look at Kirra in the background. I guess that's how we eat cake mixes. She's in her own world, just playing away, as I take pictures of her brother. ...so Kirra!

I agree, 1:00 church is terrible! And we have sacrament last, which makes it even worse! But really, there is no ideal time with kids, it's always running into some nap or meal-time :)

Poor Tavin!! I love that he naps, though. Neither of my children do!

YOur children are adorable and I am so happy for you!

We really are in the same stage of life, if only we lived closer to each other! John will still take a nap too, and he'll be 5 in June! The best is if you can get all 3 kids napping at once. It doesn't ever seem to overlap for very long, but it's a very peaceful and quiet break : ) And how exciting your parents got called to serve in Spain! And kind of sad for you I'm sure, but they will be SO great, I love your parents!

ONE O'CLOCK CHURCH IS THE WORST EVER. I MIGHT JUST GO INACTIVE!!!!

Anyways, don't think I'm weird, but I totally think Shad looks identical to your Dad....

P.S. Matt TOTALLY agrees!

Reid is FIVE and still naps. And he really needs them. I'm nervous about him starting all day kindergarten and how cranky he'll be without naps.

And we have an identical sweaty story with Parker. It was the one and only time he ever wet the bed at about the same age. He was certain he was just sweaty.

I felt the same way about Reid as a baby. I'm not the kind of person that automatically thinks all babies are cute...not even my own. But I promise you that I think Shad is a cute baby...and I don't say that if I don't mean it.

Ha ha, poor Tavin, but that is so hilarious! I just wish my dog would at least pee on a towel when she decides to go in the house! And P.S from the pictures I have seen I think Shad is an adorable baby!

You are crazy! Shad is adorable. I just want to snuggle and hold him! And the Tav stories crack me up. My little sister would sleep walk all the time and she even peed in her shoe in the middle of her room once! I then had her go finish in the toilet and she wiped with a towel and handed it to me afterward! Kids crack me up. I miss you guys!

Hi Melissa!
Sorry to hear Kirra's sick again. I tell ya I HATE cold and flu season. Bring on summertime when the livin is easy!! Right?

Shad is too a cute baby. Oh my gosh he's adorable.

Hey have you heard from Jessica Stucki? How is she, has she had her baby?

I agree with Shayne, Shad looked JUST like your Dad in one of those pics. What I'm trying to say is that your Dad looks like an alien.

Melissa,
Shad is so cute! His measurements at birth are the exact same as Macy's! Congratulations on having such a cute family!

I love the picture of Kirra! I can totally relate to that mentality. My brothers used to ask my mom where I came from as I sat in the background playing with tissues and talking to them as if they were real. I see that now in my own son. I hope you all are doing okay. I'm so sorry about how sick you guys are . . . not fun.
