I had hard contractions on and off Saturday and Sunday and by 2 am Monday morning I COULD NOT sleep anymore. After cleaning Kirra up from peeing the bed, finishing packing my bag, finding a friend to come stay with the kids, and drivng back home to get my forgotten wallet, we finally made our way to the hospital around 4:45am.
When we were all checked in at 5am, I was dialated to a 6 and by 7am, I was a 9 1/2. Then Shad decided things were going a little fast and hung out for another hour before he made his entrance into this world.
My sick hubby with the BEST OB EVER, Dr. Vela!!!!
This was the best labor/delivery so far!
1. I didn't have to be induced. He came naturally like I was praying for.
2. We only had to dump our kids on friends for 1 day before my mom arrived.
3. The nurse got my IV in on the first try which NEVER happens due to my rolling veins.
4. They rushed my blood work so I would have time to get the epidural.
5. Even though they made Brett leave the room while I got my epidural, the anesthesiologist was AMAZING and the epidural was a breeze. The worst part of having a baby, to me, is getting the epidural. IT FREAKS ME OUT!
6. Shad came after only like 10 pushes.
7. Dr. Vela ordered us the recovery room suite.
Tavin and Kirra are IN-LOVE with their baby brother. Tavin begged Nana day in and day out to take him to the hospital so he could hold baby Shad.
If you look close you can see that Tavin drew Mommy in a hospital bed, "with crazy hair," and baby Shad, "with crazy hair."
Besides having to stay 3 full days in the hospital, we couldn't have asked for things to go any better!
We are all doing GREAT and are so glad to be home with our new family of 5.

A HUGE congratulations! The name is adorable and suits your family well. I want to know more about Tavin insisting on the name. You look great and your baby is SO good looking. I have a thing for big babies. I'm glad it all went well (except your mom not being there).

Congratulations on your beautiful baby boy! That's so wonderful. I hope all are well. Too bad he didn't arrive 2/5...we could've shared a birthday. :) But it's always a treat when the baby arrives just a little bit early on their own. Enjoy these moments!
