The other day Tavin was trying to sit in Kirra's swing...again, while I was nursing. I said, "Tavin, you're not supposed to sit in Kirra's swing. You are too big. Do you need a time-out?" He continued to ignore me until my mom came in the room. She picked him up out of the swing and told him he would have a time-out if he got in it again. Up to this point, we didn't know if he was really understanding the whole concept of time-out. After a few minutes he was busy playing with his bear over by Kirra's swing. My mom and I heard Tavin say, "No! No! No!" and then watched him walk his bear over to the "time-out step." He placed his bear on the step where he has to sit for time-out.

By this time my mom and I were laughing hysterically. When Tavin goes to time-out he has to sit there for a minute or two, then we talk about what he did wrong, and give him a hug and kiss. Well, after his bear sat there for a couple seconds, Tavin picked up his bear and gave him a hug and kiss too.
I guess he understands time-out.

That's too funny! It's amazing the things kids really pick up on.
Kids are so cute.
That is the most hilarious story. I wish I could see him right now! Kids are so DANG smart!
It was so fun to see you today! And we need to do that more often! HELLO, we're both in Corona!! And we both are at home all the time! Anyway, that's a cute story about Tavin. He is darling!!!!
I agree, it was definitely fun to see you and Jessica today. I can't even remember the last time! Years. Tavin is adorable, and Kirra is precious. You seem to be handling motherhood with two young ones very well. I only hope I make it look as easy!
Such a cute story about Tavin and his teddy bear in timeout. We haven't really had to enforce timeouts yet with Hannah, but when we do, that is the method I will use too. Seems effective.
That is too funny. My niece used to put me in time-out periodically for doing something against their family's rules. Where are you guys living?
Mel...no, Olivia didnt like Boston at first. She completely ignored him. Once he started smiling and laughing and rolling around, she realized that he was a real person and loves him...I am sure it will be the same for Tavin. Good Luck!!
I need help Melissa! How do I post a viedo? It won't work?
That is really cute that he put his bear in time out. It always amazes me too how much they really do listen.
Cute. I saw the swing in the pics before this entry... man, what a temptation, it's just perfectly placed at his height and everything... ...he's so cute!
